Turan Ozbahceci continued his business life, which started with a mini market in 1994, with the opening of the first supermarket named “Ardaş” in Arnavutköy on 14 August 1999. In very short time period, “Ardaş” has managed to become one of the brightest future chains of the retail sector, thanks to its attention efficient investments which it has made with its smart location selection, which is growing rapidly towards Trakya and centered on Büyükçekmece, as well as, thanks to the importance that it attaches to infrastructure and education.
Turan Özbahçeci, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, has implemented many development patterns of the sector within “Ardaş”. In a period where competition is intense and companies understand that protecting existing customers is as vital as gaining new customers in markets, customer relationship management practices were initiated, better service was provided to customers, marketing, sales and company productivity were increased to a high level.
Additionally, during the period when the importance of stock management increased due to the decrease in the inflation rate to single digit figures, all logistics were arranged in a 1600 square meter closed area in the center of Trakya with a modern shelf system. With lift systems in all vehicles, forklifts working in the warehouse, all products were packaged and distributed to branches in a fast and controlled manner, and thanks to this strategy, an additional storage and transaction were prevented in the branches. Consequently, as a new practice began to be implemented, the products that do not need to be kept in stock in the warehouse are separated from the warehouse under the name of weekly packaging system and shipped to the relevant branches. The logistical support provided by this system has also brought the service continuity and most importantly, customer satisfaction.
In 2012, this hypermarket chain, which was created
from scratch under the signature of Özbahçeci, was sold to the British company
"Tesco".
